Wikipedia defines holistic health as:
Holistic health is a concept in medical practice upholding that all aspects of people's needs, psychological, physical and social should be taken into account and seen as a whole. As defined above, the holistic view on treatment is widely accepted in medicine.[1] A different definition, claiming that disease is a result of physical, emotional, spiritual, social and environmental imbalance, is used in alternative medicine.[2]
I view holistic medicine as a method of assessing health and well being by evaluating the patient as a whole system. A living system that is interconnected to all of life’s energetic forces. Examples of these multidimensional and interconnected life forces are ones that most of us can readily identify with, such as; human-animal energetic connections, environment, nutrition, genetics and stress which can be physical, mental, social or environmental. There are, of course, many other factors that affect all living systems that are harder to identify and understand, such as, vital life force energy better known as qi, chi, ki, mana or prana. I believe that all life, from the smallest micro particle to the infinite macrocosm are simultaneously interacting continuously through these vital life forces.
